G,day Jenny and birding-aussers,

I'm hardly a NW Victorian, but may be qualified to assist in your enquiries
regardless.

The first place I would try for White-winged Fairy-wren is west of town,
out past Merbein. Take the Old Mail Road out towards Wallpolla Island and
eventually, it will become gravel (OK) and pass through open chenopod
shrublands. Scout-about and you should be able to come across WWFW, Orange
Chat, perhaps Crimson Chat, maybe Banded Lapwing on the grassy rises. Keep
heading west, go over the third cattle grid and take the sign-posted track
into Wallpolla Island State Forest. Drive down that track till you reach a
Y intersection, turn-left and you'll come to a gate. Look about for
Chestnut-crowned Babblers. They nest nearby. Also, usually get Blue
Bonnet and Mulga Parrot in vicinity.

The best spot for White-browed Treecreeper closest to Mildura is
undoubtedly Yarrara FFR, but its a good 45 mins-1 hour drive. Its
south-west ish of Mildura, near a place called Merringur. Southern Scrub
Robins are about in Hattah-Kulkyne. If you're passing through, have a look
at any broombush dominated habitat. I actually havn't seen that species in
Hattah.

Hope that helps.

Chris
