George St, Sandringham (Fildes factory Melway p77 B12).
Two seen Thursday after night with 15mm rain, squalls and
continual northerlies at 1030 by Bill McClure and one, possibly
two, at 1830-1910 by me. Couldn't confirm two birds - dealing
with 6 enquirers (3 saw the bird).
Birds have generally been very quiet and I didn't hear or see
them in half-hour watches at 0800 and 1300. But right at the
start of the morning session an unusual "whip" call and the
female Satin Flycatcher came to 2 metres of the footpath. She
was videoed at 1015.
Their main trees at the Fildes factory are probably
Lemon-scented gums (E. citriodora - habit and smell the leaves!)
but waiting arborist confirmation. Hybrid
E.maculataXcitriodora?
Maybe also using gums behind neighbouring Shurlube factory.
Perhaps tomorrow someone will seek permission to check.
