On September 1 I thought I heard Bee-eaters at Glen Alice in the Capertee Valley (central west NSW). I dismissed this at the time as, possibly, a black-chinned Honeyeater in the distance. Since then Judie Peet and I have seen them between Gulgarambone and Quambone (several hours north of Dubbo). I was back at Glen Alice last Saturday (9 September) to find that Bee-eaters were very much in evidence, suggesting that I may well have heard correctly the week before. By the way, Simon, the Swift Parrots are still in the Capertee Valley. Have had them until the first week of October in the past. Interesting to see how long these birds stay. Will provide full details shortly.
