Gooday Peter and others,
I had the weekend at Kaili Valley via Bowen Qld. 19 55 S 148 05 E. This area
is alive with wildlife with the swamp at full capacity since the early part
of this year. With the huge expanse of water and suitable habitat there is
no reason why the resident Pelicans would want to leave the area. No
reduction in numbers have been observed from this area of Qld.
When I worked out at Cloncurry with Qld. Rail there was a point in the line
from Duchess to Dajarra where water flowed through to Lake Eyre on one side
of the small bank and into the Gulf of Carpentaria on the other.
The great majority of water filling Lake Eyre would have fallen on North
Western Qld.
