Thanks, Tom, for reminding us that we have a true "expert" on children and birding, right here on our list! Your message is very helpful and I'm going to file it for future reference. Do you have any suggestions for the best way to respond to the ones who insist that birds (or kangaroos, or whatever) are just a nuisance and should be shot, "because that's what my Dad says"? Does one try to reason with them or ignore them and hope they'll shut up?
