Dear Mr Death,

Did it occur to you that, for some of us, twitching a
vagrant may be the only opportunity we have for a long
time to see the species in question?

Travelling to a bird's home base may be prohibitively
expensive, may require use of additional holiday time
we don't have, etc. It's not just a matter of "putting
in a bit more effort" - and anyway, seeing a bird
where they are rare is, for obvious reasons, rather
more of a challenge anyway. Of course, I look forward
to my first opportunity to travel overseas. Until
then, looks like I'm doomed to twitching at least the
birds that stray reasonably close to home.

Jeeeez.
