This afternoon, while collecting the washing from the line ... at 5.30pm, I was startled to discover a crash to the ground right next to me ... no more than 5 metres away ... a kookaburra ... and next to it, probably on top in flight ... a grey goshawk. They were startled by me ... the kookaburra took that opportunity to get the hell out of there ... the goshawk flew into the tree beside me ... to stay for more than the time I needed to identify ... grey phase, beautiful. all this in Engadine ... my backyard is one street away from the bushland of the Woronora valley but this was special ...By the way, Engadine is in the southern suburbs of Sydney! Near to Royal National park. Brian Everingham To unsubscribe from this list, please send a message to Include ONLY "unsubscribe birding-aus" in the message body (without the quotes) |
