Although I have been in Australia for just 3 years I have seen a large number of birds, but not a few which are said to be "common". Shamefacedly I have to admit not to have seen a Weebill!! Laugh with derision and scorn, but it's true! For a while I had failed to spot a Southern Whiteface, but during a trip to Googong Lake {south of Canberra} my wife and I spotted quite a few. Now isn't it strange [and ironic] that always when a "common" bird is first seen you can't help but see them everywhere afterwards! Walking along Ginninderra Creek nearby here in Canberra I have seen several small flocks of whiteface, almost on my doorstep! Regards, Rob. |
