Highlights from twice-weekly Canberra Ornithologists' Group (COG) hotline,
for week ending 28 August (some reports are of earlier obs).
Not an outstanding week, though the first Early Nancies (Wurmbea dioicea, a
native lily), is an excellent spring indicator.
NB I SHALL BE AWAY FOR 2 WEEKS; SHALL SUMMARISE INFO WHEN I GET BACK, BUT
WILL OF COURSE BE UNABLE TO REPLY TO ANYTHING UNTIL THEN
REGENT HONEYEATER still a single bird all weekk in flowering Ironbarks
in carpark of Belconnen Labour Club
ROSE ROBINS pair in National Botanic Gdns, 23/8 [passage migrant, en
route up to the Brindabella Ranges]
NOISY FRIARBIRD 22/8 on the way! observed advancing, from a train window
near Goulburn, 100k NE of here
YELLOW-FACED, WHITE-NAPED HONEYEATERS apparently back [though some did
overwinter this year]
