Highlights from twice-weekly Canberra Ornithologists' Group (COG) hotline,
for fortnight ending 9 August (some reports are of earlier obs).
Not a lot, but spring is certainly a strong hint at present; in the coming
weeks the roll-call of returning migrants is a highlight of our year!

BREEDING ACTIVITY Recorded from Magpies, Speckled Warblers, Pied
Currawongs, Yellow-rumped Thornbills, Red-browed Finches, Magpie-larks. None
of these are outrageously early.

TREE MARTINS 9/8 The first migrant return reported to me (well, actually
I was delighted to see them myself!).

DUSKY WOODSWALLOW       1/8 Flock of 8 in suburban Jerrabomberra wetlands;
this group has apparently over-wintered.

YELLOW-TUFTED HONEYEATER 8/8 heard at National Botanic Gardens
