Hi John
Someone has already mentioned the Konardin track near Lake Mournpoul at
Hattah for the grasswren......it is probably the best birding spot in the
park for Mallee species.
The grasswren is also along the Nowingi track in appropriate habitat.
I have also seen it on the Nature trail near the entrance to the Park and
across from the entrance on the other side of the Murray Valley hwy...you
walk directly into the Mallee there until you come across a fire trail. On
the other side of the trail hang around the spinifex slopes for a while.
They seem more active on warm days and in the morning.
They have also been seen on the Old Calder track at Beehive site 8[if you
can find it].....where the black eared miners and hybrids used to hang out.
Check out the spinifex slopes there.
Guess you know the Mallee there [Hattah] needs careful navigation otherwise
you'll spend more time in it than you had planned.
