Shearwaters and Hitchcock

Thanks to Andrew Taylor for unearthing the report about the 1961 Santa Cruz
Sooty Shearwater incident.

A couple of other people pointed out the the film The Birds is professedly
based on a short story by Daphne DuMaurier. It may be that Hitchcock had
this in the back of hsi mind and then read about the Santa Cruz Shearwaters,
or vice versa, I know from studying the sources of other authors/creators
that often a contact with one source will spark off a latent memory of
another or others and these two or all sources will then combine to
influence the book/film/whatever.

Poor old sea-birds though.
