Using my linux desktop I temporarily assign an alias address to my ether
net interface. e.g. in this case
# ifconfig eth0:1 192.168.0.1
# ifconfig eth0:1
eth0:1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:40:63:ef:9f:1e
inet addr:192.168.0.1 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
Interrupt:18 Base address:0xe000
Then I can communicate, login and change the board to have a kosher address
on my network.
Dunno if you can do something similar in windows. But then I've never
understood how people get anything done with Windows :-)
