Okay, bear with me on this because I already asked in linuxquestions.org and
was actually told "Why don't you do your own research on this?" Um, gee, I
must have logged into linuxeffoffnewbie.org. My bad.
udev has a rules system that lets you create a /dev entry based on stuff it
knows about the device such as manufacturer, serial number, etc. Does Busybox
mdev have a similar system or is it bare bones?
If I can't do this, is there a better way to create more distinct /dev entries
other than hacking the driver code itself? For example, let's say you have a
couple of gadgets from different companies that use an FTDI USB-to-serial chip.
Right now they all show up as ttyUSB#. I could probably modify the
usb-serial.c file to append some aspect of the device info but that seems
kludgey.
