Andy,
As long as you are using the kernel from TS, I would think that it
would work as long as debian will automatically setup the xserver to
use the framebuffer. It has been quite a while since I wrote the
tutorial and have been more focused on using OpenEmbedded.org than on
debian lenny, so I don't have a definitive answer for you.
I've taken the frame buffer driver code from the TS kernel source and
ported it to 2.6.29.1 with Matt's patch set and got a working system
with QtEmbedded and OpenEmbedded. For that though, QtE talks directly
to the framebuffer driver and no X was needed.
