Thanks Jordi. Your suggestion was valuable. It worked. I enabled yaffs2 instead
of yaffs option on menuconfig and the compiled the kernel. It boots fine! This
is for Linux-2.4.26-ts11.
I enabled another option called 'Memory Technology Devices (MTD) for 2k NAND
FLASH' in menuconfig. I am not sure if that is necessary but if enabling YAFFS2
alone does not do the job, it may be required.
Another thing to note here is that initially when I enabled YAFFS2, the
compiler threw errors. So to fix that I had to disable YAFFS and enable only
YAFFS2. I guess they both cannot be supported simultaneously.
For those stuck with a similar problem, please note that all the configurations
I have mentioned above are only for Linux-2.4.26-ts11 WITHOUT applying the High
Resolution Timer (HRT) patches (that I mentioned in earlier posts) to the
source. Also, I have used TFTP and use load/exec via RedBoot instead of
'bootloader' module - which is kind of a paradox compared to the title of this
message chain. :)
But that kind of indicates the path I have taken to come to a stable base point
so that I can now start working on improving the time resolution which was the
original plan.
I hope it helps some of you trying to debug such issues.
Thanks
