Check your syslog files for more information.

Hi all,
I have succeedded to create config file to initialize TS-GSM1 modem, and make PPPD start, but this one exit right away, with error code (1).  According to man pppd, this is the error meaning :

1 An immediately fatal error of some kind occurred, such as an essential system call
failing, or running out of virtual memory.
Any idea what I could check to debug this message ?
Thanks

Pierre

There will be no ethernet port (/dev/eth[x]), instead there will be a
/dev/ppp0.

'man wvdial' and 'man pppd' on any desktop distro should help.

Also this How-to:
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/PPP-HOWTO/index.html
It's quite old, but has very good info about setting up,
trouble-shooting and automating a ppp connection.
