There has been lots of discussion about the closed-source approach TS
took; it's all archived in the newsgroup if you want to review it.
Bottom line: TS chose closed source a) to protect real or perceived IP
in their lightweight FPGA/SD interface, and b) because they signed an
NDA for the SD card interface specs (even though much of the info has
since become available).
TS intends the module to be linkable with customer-compiled kernels,
but there were some rough points earlier as the module was OABI and
didn't link to EABI kernels.
