In the past, Jesse from TS mentioned that they have made a 64MB board
with single RAM chip (one chip select), and also 128MB boards that use
all four CS lines.  These were custom boards for certain clients, but
I suppose they should be supported too.[1]  

RedBoot (supposedly) properly finds & sets up all the RAM and passes
the right RAM ATAGS info to the kernel, even for the oddball cases. 
I'm not sure how that's done in the non-redboot cases.
