Apparently I wasn't using quite the right command to SET the RTC the first several times I booted. When I finally got it set correctly, it started booting with the correct time. Sorry I asked this a bit too soon...<smile> but my question about activating the serial ports still remains... > The most foolproof way to do this after logging in (full debian boot) is probably this: > # touch /tsfastboot > # touch /fastboot > # reboot That brings up a minor problem with our board. It always seems to hang when it tries to reboot itself. It gets as far as writing Reseting... to the console, then a minute or two later, it says that restart failed, system halted. Hopefully this is only a problem with the particular board we were sent (we received it on Monday, this week) because that would be very bad for our embedded project. Thank you for the answer. I also have a general comment for the documentation and release note writers. Hopefully you can pass this along: Our 7800 didn't come with any manuals or disks, and when I downloaded the TS-7800 version of the one that was most useful for the TS-7250, I discovered that it was actually for the TS-7250. Apparently there's no manual for the TS-7800 yet (except for the preliminar y pamphlet) and the "Linux for ARM on TS-72XX User's Guide" isn't really applicable to the TS-7800 (the RedBoot pages don't apply and the addresses are wrong, etc.). Some notes for folks moving from the 7250 to the 7800 would have been a HUGE help. For example, things like using rtc7800 instead of hwclock, necessity of /activating/ the PC104 bus before use, the fact that (a) the serial ports on the 7800 don't seem to exist until 'modprobe tsuart7800' is run, and then the devices created by that command ARE NOT the serial port names: instead the standard /dev/ttySn names work on the 7800 (where they don't on the 7250). __._,_.___
