The Real Time Clock is available so you don't have to manually set the time and
date every
time you power it up. There is also ntpclient which can set your internal
clock as long as
you have network (Internet) access.
There are limitations on using the provided ADC. It is a low impedance device
which pulls
towards about 2.5V, so you might need a buffer amplifier if your voltage source
is high
impedance.
