Sorry I couldn't help. I really try to watch for RTAI stuff on this list since I like the technology and would really like to see more people using it. I also see that you actually first posted a reference to bootload without the rtai reference... so that wasn't very good advice. So given I've mostly given you bad advice I have two more things to advise you: (1) I would suggest you abandon the other conversation started from you main questions. I understand your frustrations but I think continuing that conversation is only going to make you more frustrated (and ignore any further postings... it will only lead to grief). (2) I would suggest contacting TS directly by either phone or e-mail. Phone support is very good, although I know it isn't always practical depending on where in the world you are and who is footing the phone bill. E-mail support, from my experience, can be a bit delayed but they don't ignore it. I would be very surprised if TS spent all the time and effort to build all these kernels and modules and didn't test them. I think you are very much correct to think a statement like "The TS-Kernel supports the Real-Time Application Interface (RTAI project)" implies some level of support, and I think one of their people could quickly help you.
On the TS7300, the kernel is stored on the first partition of the sdcard. Various documents say that it can simply be replaced there, and show how to do this. I extracted the original kernel from that partition and compared it in a hex-editor with the others I tried. The first few dozen bytes or so are the same, so I assume I am indeed dealing with the right kind of files. But from all the files I tried dd-ing to the first partition of the sdcard, only the original one works. I don't need to replace the whole card though, dd-ing back the original is all it takes to bring things back up, so I don't think I am doing this part wrong... --- In wrote: > > Sorry... yes I am using 72xx.
