[ts-7000] 7800 ADC more info needed

Hello,

I need more information about the 7800's ADC. I've found only one
sample program (little strange to me) that does the ADC conversion and
the wiring diagram. 
If I'm right the AVR by ATMEL is used for the ADC. The AVR is
connected to CPU via I2C.

But what is the actual sampling method of the AVR? (Is it possible to
change it?)
Is there any description of the "commands" sending between CPU and AVR?

Any additional information is much appreciated.
