Thought I owed everyone an update on this...
As it turns out, the root of my problem was that the SD card i was
sent as part of my dev kit was NOT for the TS7400. The 7400 has some
different requirements than the 7250 etc. The sd card for the 7250
will *almost* work... but not quite. Mark down 3 days blown for that one.
I have built a new SD card using instructions sent to me by
Technologic, and that ALMOST worked.
The image on the web site is for the stock 7400, not the WIFIBox, so
by default it does not include the wireless driver (zb.o). It is
actually on the image, but not depmod'd in.
But... the version of depmod on the image on the web site is corrupted
and crashed immediately (strace showed it dumping on a strlen for some
reason), so I could not do a depmod -a. Mark down another full day on
that. Technologic pointed me to a non-corrupt version of depmod this
morning, and now the kernel actually loads everything it needs to.
At this point, I have the wired network working, both with static IP
and DHCP. I have the wireless network recognized (per the system log),
but when I try to bring it up, the entire network subsystem (both
wired and wireless) hangs, which is a bummer to debug, because it's
impossible to have both the wireless adapter and the serial port on
the board at the same time. The following makes it hang:

Progress, but still plowing through problems :-(
