I fouled up the previous answer. BEFORE I made two partitions, there
was only one. Splitting it had nothing to do with the size. It was
under 1 gig before I partitioned it and after I partitioned it.
I can't do what you ask, I don't know how. If you could tell me how
to format it when fdisk only reports that there is 1 gig. The only
tool I know is fdisk. Is there another tool to low level format it
(where I can specify the head/cylinder/sector counts?)
But, just to be safe, I took another 2 gig SD, formatted it (low level
format) in my canon camera. Put it in the slot. booted up. fdisk
reports:
1029 MB, 1029701632 bytes
30 heads, 37 sectors/track, 1430 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 1406 * 512 = 719872 bytes
In the camera, it reports 1.96G
