The cross-compiler tools I'm using are based on version 4.0.1 of gcc. It
tosses up various errors when trying to compile the ts11 kernel. With a couple
of small patches to the kernel source I was able to get to where I could build
the printer.o module but installing the module taints the kernel.

Any chance you could provide a printer.o kernel module that won't taint the
kernel when it is installed for ts11? Printing to a USB printer seems like
something useful enough you should consider making the needed kernel module
available as part of the standard Linux kernel package.
