For eth0 I would try a broadcast address
128.172.167.255
and a network address of
128.172.167.0

Hi all,

I discovered the host name lookup issue when I was trying to use
apt-get, and
received the following error (incl for other searching with same issue):

Err http://http.us.debian.org stable/main Packages
Temporary failure resolving 'http.us.debian.org'

I have read everything I can find and tried all solutions listed, but
have not
been able to get hostname lookup working...details:

TS-7400 Debian (3.1 Sarge) on 512MB SD; shipped 4/3/07

Network info from Linux/Win desktop box (mostly same info used for TS
board)
-IP: 128.172.167.174
-Subnet: 255.255.255.0
-Default Gateway: 128.172.167.254
-Preferred DNS: 128.172.1.1

So I used this same info to configure TS board, files shown below:

--/etc/network/interfaces--
# Used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8). See the interfaces(5) manpage or
# /usr/share/doc/ifupdown/examples for more information.

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto eth0
#iface eth0 inet dhcp
iface eth0 inet static
address 128.172.167.235
# network 128.172.167.254
gateway 128.172.167.254
netmask 255.255.255.0
# broadcast 192.168.1.255
#iface eth1 inet dhcp
iface wlan0 inet static
address 192.168.0.138
network 192.168.0.0
netmask 255.255.255.0
broadcast 192.168.0.255
