[ts-7000] TS-7400 host name lookup failure.

Hi all,

I discovered the host name lookup issue when I was trying to use
apt-get, and 
received the following error (incl for other searching with same issue):

Err http://http.us.debian.org stable/main Packages
  Temporary failure resolving 'http.us.debian.org'
 
I have read everything I can find and tried all solutions listed, but
have not 
been able to get hostname lookup working...details:
 
TS-7400 Debian (3.1 Sarge) on 512MB SD; shipped 4/3/07

Network info from Linux/Win desktop box (mostly same info used for TS
board) 
-IP: 128.172.167.174 
-Subnet: 255.255.255.0 
-Default Gateway: 128.172.167.254 
-Preferred DNS: 128.172.1.1

So I used this same info to configure TS board, files shown below:

--/etc/network/interfaces-- 
# Used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8). See the interfaces(5) manpage or

        netmask 255.255.255.0
        broadcast 192.168.0.255

+Note: I tried it with the the 'network' and 'broadcast' lines
uncommented as 
well.

--/etc/resolve.conf 
search ts-local.net 
nameserver 128.172.1.1

I checked the /lib/libresolve... linking as well. 

Not sure if it helps, but 'route -n' gives me this: 
Destination     Gateway         Genmask         Flags Metric Ref   
Use Iface
128.172.167.0   0.0.0.0         255.255.255.0   U     0      0       
0 eth0


Due to our network setup, pings to the internet are filtered, so I
can't ping 
yahoo.com or something like that. FTP is allowed, so I tried to
connect to microsoft's ftp, which failed.

I can however, ping machines on local network, but only by IP, not by
their domain name. 
Pinging 'ts7000', the local host name, and 127.0.0.1 works.
Pinging the IP of the nameserver fails. However, I am able to ping it
from a Windows machine
with network config identical to one above(all the way at the top).

Well that is where I stand. I'll be keeping a close eye on this post,
please let me know if more info is 
needed. Thanks in advance; other than this little hicup, I'm really
enjoying the TS board.
