load -r -b 0x00218000 -m xmodem

I use minicom to do this now & then when I don't have the board 
connected via any networkable means.

note that there is a timeout, so you should do this quickly -

In redboot, after you type in the command above, quickly hit Ctrl+A,s 
then choose xmodem, and select the suitable kernel image.
