Hi All,
I have a new 7260 and a new SanDisk 2.0GB SD card and would like to
install a clean Debian distribution on the SD card, then set up to
boot and pivot to the SD card.
I have done the second part (boot and pivot) before, but haven't seen
a writeup on the first part (installing a clean Debian distro on a new
SD card).
It looks like the three partition setup is required for the pivot so
the process seems like it should be:
1. Run fdisk on /dev/sdcard0/disc0/disc to create the three
partitions, resulting in the following map:
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdcard0/disc0/part1 * 1 4 8032+ da Unknown
/dev/sdcard0/disc0/part2 5 8 8064 da Unknown
/dev/sdcard0/disc0/part3 9 984 1967616 83 Linux
2. Run mkfs.ext3 to create a file system on part3
3. Mount the file system on part3 as, say /sdcard.
4. ftp the Debian tar file into /sdcard
5. untar the Debian distro into /sdcard
6. Set up the boot and pivot as described in
http://www.seiner.com/ts7000/index.php/Booting%20to%20SDCard
Should this procedure work?
I ran into some h/w problems in the middle of this process, so I did
not get to find out if this approach is workable
If there are any errors or omissions in the above, I would grateful if
someone would point them out.
Thanks very much,
jw
