I started with 2.6.20 and that would be my preference to use, I will give the patches from the link a try.

Those are quite old by now. Try the newer ones at:
http://svn.wantstofly.org/kernel/

I read that there have been some recent changes to get CF working
again with recent kernels, both in vanilla 2.6.20 and the patches
listed above. [I don't have a TS-7200 to test CF myself though]

If you still have no luck, then a full boot dmesg and a .config would
be helpful.
