I have tried zd1211 drivers version r76 through r83 which all fail
in the same way (tx timeout). I downloaded the latest source code I
could get from the vendor (ZyDas, now Athero) and saw there were
numerous flag race-conditions fixed since the r83 driver and I
attempted to merge those in (no help). There is also a comment in
the (Zydas linux driver v 2.16) saying "Fixed Ad-Hoc" but there are
so many differences in so many files it seems impossible to figure
out which changes are needed. I also built a driver from Zydas 2.16
sources but that doesn't run for some reason (it fails in usb
setup). I am certain Ad-Hoc worked for me at some point, so it is
hard not to give up (plus the fact I need it working by tomorrow...)
