That was interesting confirmation (not happy at all to hear about), so
it was just waste of money from my side then when getting the IC. That
would be good parts to include in the documents as well, else people
would not be happy about it when it is just an empyt socket on the
board, and no one describes the meaning of optional.
A good idea from the TS would to include something in the manual for
chapter "5.7 A/D Header - Optional MAX197" that this require correct
verison/load of the firmware to have the optional functions enabled.
However seams that this was a bad luck for me to not understand. The
chapter more or less described that "A read at I/O location 0x2240_0000
bit 0 returns a "1" when the A/D option is installed on the TS-7200."
The A/D option is not the hardware it is the CPLD load...
-"We want you to buy it from us so we can feed our families and fund
future hardware development." Yepp, I think that's not the problem..
When I ordered I saw the value of the optional A/D more or less the same
price as ordeing a single chip for a small consumer. I had no idea to
use it when I ordered the board, however when I had the board I found it
interesting to test the optional AD in some applications. If the
information that it is not able to upgrade just the hardware I had
bought the optional feature as well... (however now I have already
wasted the money any other distributor/www.elfa.se insted ($51USD
instead of $35 from TS) , I like the TS products, and I would gladely
have sponsored then instead in this case, if the product description was
more informative... :-( )
