Hi I checked the options you have chosen, the selection will quite obviously depend on to what extent you are planning to take this on. But I guess this is for a university project which is not going to be commercialised.
Anyway this is what I think
- AXIS 2120
- StarDot
Both are Network Cameras, meaning if you enter their IP addresses on your browser from anywhere in the world, you'd be able to see the image the camera is capturing. So this sort of eases your project; i.e. you dont have to transmit the photo itself. YOu can just say there is someone and user can just check the webpage.
- SmartVue and Logitech
Too costly. I mean the logitech is too costly for a usb cam.
USB/Serial vs Network Cameras
Ok when you are choosing choose whether you want a network camera or a usb/serial interface. The point is that if you are using a network camera, then it means that the complexity of the project is largely reduced. So it sort of depends on the point of view of the project evaluator on which type you should choose.
If you choose a USB interfaced camera, check with some one how data is transferrred. I believe that from the TS boards side, they'd appear to be as coming from a serial port, but I have not used TS 7260 USB ports extensively, for one thing I think they are not auto mount. You can definitely use serial cameras though. The serial cameras (eg:
http://www.tdc.co.uk/camera/) connect to the TS board through serial interface and send you the JPEG image as serial data.
Letme know if this helps you. I can give you specific help on the last option I have mentioned (some of my friends worked on a project using it), but it needs a certain amount of electronic development. (i.e. voltage conversions, interface circuitry etc.) So again its upto you to decide whether itd weigh towards a good evaluation :)
Bye and TC
Janaka
