Jesse,

One thing that might be nice is a simple interface for driving a 
multiplexed 8-bit I/O bus. I use a Wilke Technology TinyTiger in one 
of old products, and it implemented this type of bus which allowed I/
O expansion as well as driving a T6963C? Graphic LCD. Using this 
structure it was easy to add digital inputs/outputs using simple tri-
state buffers and latches. This could also form the basis of a simple 
bus to add another CPLD or FPGA on an expansions card...

Also, some form of enhanced SPI with multiple chip selects would be 
nice.
