Well, for one thing, Maverick Crunch patches exist for the 2.6 Kernel(and GCC + binutils)!
 
Hardware floating point is one of the selling points for the  EP9302, so it would be great to be able to use it.
 
 
Secondly, the latest 2.6 kernel has lower latency than 2.4 (even specially patched versions of 2.4) so 2.6 is even better for embedded and multimedia applications with the EP9302.
