It would appear that either tcpdump has a problem or the 7250's
ethernet device doesn't fully support promiscous mode.
Here's what I've done. I took the tcpdump and libpcap.so.0 from the
Debian build, did an "insmod af_packet" and ran "tcpdump tcp udp icmp"
while the device was connected to a network that had a lot of traffic.
I was also running tcpdump from a Fedora box on that same network.
Now I would have expected if it was working properly that I'd get a
lot of packets, which I did on my RH box. However, I would only very
sporadically get any traffic reported on the 7250, if at all (perhaps
1 out of every 1000 packets?) It would appear that some times I'd get
a spurt of a couple packets, but most of the time, nothing at all.
Is this a known problem, and is it a hardware or software one? Or did
I just do something boneheaded in configuration--I think I've got it
correct, but am I missing something?
Thank you in advance--any help appreciated.

P.S. Thanks Jesse for answering my Watchdog question--I'll do some
tests of my own to see the failure rate and whether it's been patched
in silicon or not, but at least now I know what I'm up against.
