A few months ago I came across a document which mentions spraying microphon= es with "silicon" to waterproof them. There's no detail about what to use o= r how well it works. They're summary notes from a workshop, and I've been m= eaning to contact the authors for more details. The document is at: http://birdlife.org.au/images/uploads/branches/documents/SQ-Acoustics_works= hop_overview.pdf Peter Shute Sent from my iPad On 11 Sep 2017, at 9:42 pm, 'Russ Wigh' <rdwigh@= bellsouth.net> [naturerecordists] <<mailto:= >> wrote: Florian Wonderful detailed answer. Thanks so much. In fact I have finished the pr= oject at this point. The microphone is suspended in a PVC tube which is cov= ered with a Rycote Softie, and stretched over the dish is a think rip-stop = nylon fabric which will provide some protection, although certainly not abs= olute. I have to make this short since we are experiencing what is left o= f Hurricane Irma here on the coast of Georgia. Russ Wigh |
