Dear fellow nature-recordists,=0D
Aloha from Kaua`i. It has been more than five years since I posted to Natu=
re-recordists. I am a grateful veteran of this group, from the early years=
when membership was maybe 30-50, and now I see we are at 2300!! Though I c=
annot find a current member list (??), names from the past include Bernie, =
Walt, Marty, Kevin, Rob, Rich, Doug, Lang, Jim, Klas, and many more, and th=
anks very much for the steep learning curve you made possible and available=
.=0D
I have been actively recording all along, please see my SoundsHawaiian sit=
e. Also see my Soundcloud page for the more whimsical of my activities http=
s://soundcloud.com/soundshawaiian https://soundcloud.com/soundshawaiian=0D
My present efforts are mainly in Hawaiian soundscapes=974 channels into a =
Sound Devices 744, with the front in mid/side mode MKH 30/40, backed up wit=
h two MKH 20=92s in a Walt Knapp modified SASS, or spread out. Comments on =
this config would be appreciated. I have learned to really love Mid-side, t=
hank you Bernie.=0D
Many of you know of the plight of Hawai`i=92s forest birds, sad but true. =
The birds of my Island of Kaua`i (http://soundshawaiian.com/birds_kauai.htm=
l http://soundshawaiian.com/birds_kauai.html) are in the steepest decline, =
and much of my conservation work is here on Kaua`i, as I try to capture the=
best that remains of Hawai`i soundscapes. My work as a bird guide has ena=
bled my access to the best forests of each Island, and I aim to continue th=
at long as I can hear=97still good at 74.=0D
Hoping to hear from some of you=97truth is, it is lonely out here, and I f=
ind I need the support, technical and moral, of this group=0D
