I don't know if is related to your noise in this case, but I thought it mig= ht be helpful for someone if I mention a mysterious noise problem I was hav= ing with an ME-66 a few years back. I found my microphone was starting to= get noisy and generate an annoying hum in my recordings. I figured it was= from years of use and abuse and considered replacing it until I found an o= bscure posting somewhere on the internet where someone had fixed this probl= em. The problem was that the screw on the underside of the microphone (unde= r the letters CE) had come slightly loose and this was the source of the no= ise. The original solution involved glueing it into place, but I just tig= htened this up and my mic was as quiet as new. Just thought it might be useful to get this tip out there again.
