I have the use the Rode PG2 with my ME-66 (and ME 62). I really like it. =
It is sturdy, quiet and easy to use in the field. I like that I can use it=
handheld or tripod mount it. The routing of the cables through the handle=
is convenient, but a bit tedious if you change cables. It also folds for =
travel.
When I had purchased my ME-66 kit, it came with a Universal Shock Mount (Pe=
arstone DUSM) which worked, but was not nearly as effective. I had to make=
a handle which transferred a lot of noise, the rubber "bands" always came =
loose from the mount. It was clearly a lesser product.
The Rode PG2 solved all those problems.
I would suggest at least an inexpensive "dead cat" windcover to go over the=
foam windscreen. I didn't have one at first and lost quite a few recordin=
gs to mild breezes.
I don't have and don't intend to get a zeppelin type windscreen. I find th=
em too cumbersome for field use since I record mostly at night and often st=
anding in water (amphibian calls). I need to be able to tuck my gear under=
my arm, in a pocket, etc. when trying to stabilize myself or take photos.
