I=92ll start putting a simple little diagram in with the EM172 capsules
denoting Black as Ground and Red as the hot. Sorry for the confusion. Primo
will only let me buy them with those wires on them. Primo says excessive
heat from a soldering iron can damage the EM172 capsule so would only sell
them to me with the wires attached.

Please be aware that due to health issues the capsules will be all that I
sell in the future. I=92ve had several surgeries last year and have 3 more
coming up this year. Being in a wheel chair slows me down too much to keep
up with things here. Because I can=92t spend time assembling various mic
configurations any more I will gradually put mic application information on
our web. I=92ll include examples of a EM172 PIP mic, a EM172 XLR phantom
powered mic, battery box . . .etc=85 I=92ll try to use materials that can =
be
purchased at the local hardware store.

Sorry for the confusion about the wire colors,

Gene at frogloggers.com

Hi Anders,t
Even more confused now; my capsules have a red and a black wire only?
Cheers

being two wires coming out of my EM 172's. I found a post from 2010 that
showed capsules with no wires at all, just three solder blobs on the base,
and indicating which was hot, neg and ground. It's clear to me what the two
wires are, but is a ground required please?
