I agree... but I would also think it should be possible to produce two versions: one with and the other without the music track. And yes, it's the same here in the US - silence on air is evidently something to be avoided at any cost. Last year, in order to watch the Olympics, I subscribed to a service that provides a UK-based IP address, and was thus able to take my choice of all the Beeb's coverage. The difference was stunning. Oh, and don't get me started on laughter tracks... Ray...
