Ray, adding music and sound effects to "everything" is just a style.
As an example, we have a "spoken" broadcasting channel in Sweden, but
the last ten years it has more and more been filled with all kinds of
gingles, music and sound effects. Either people hate this noise or
don=B4t take notice.
I have asked the sound producers on this channel why, and the answer
seems to be some kind of "to make it sound more professional".

To me, one of the most embarrassing things about nature films, is
that it looks like it is made by one and only ambitious more or less
fanatic and self sacrificing enthusiast, while there is actually a
total film crew with two buses incl. catering, medical staff and
labor union guys...

Another thing is when a "documentary" movie gives the total
impression that it is filmed at 8000 meters depth of the ocean, while
98% is actually made in a laboratory.

And where are "we" nature sound recordists going? Is there a
"direction" towards more phantasy,
or is there (still??) a longing for "truth"?

What is the Beeb's coverage??

Klas.
