You have made a good case both here and on your blog for the advantage of b=
etter stereo image with the Olympus recorders.
On the other hand, the advantage of the lower noise mics in the M10 is the =
potential for an extended acoustic horizon in quieter settings, and for tho=
se capable of making MS adjustments in post that might make a difference.
Not owning an Olympus I cant compare them, but I just did a quick back yard=
recording with my M10, and then in post made a few quick adjustments: wide=
ned the stereo field (-5% from the Mid) using Channel Mixer in Adobe Auditi=
on 1.5, then using apQualizr, applied a high pass filter on the Mid channel=
below 1200Hz, and then boosted both M and S over those same frequencies to=
compensate, and the resultant stereo image sounds pretty good to me.
