Jos=E9, Another tip while using Audacity. Use <Effect> - <Amplify> initially in multiples of 6 dB. It tells you how much you have spare. That way you can guess the amount later if you don't log your processing details. You can't do that with <Normalise>. I peak under -12dB until I have the final trimmed version, then readjust to -3 to -6 peak. The noise in the second run was distant wind noise, not mic wind noise which I wouldn't expect at low wind speeds and it sounds different anyway.
