You can end up with a very skewed perception of the frequency response if y=
ou do any critical EQing on headphones. Headphones often are quite exaggera=
ted at either end of the spectrum. However, this is not to say that just an=
y speakers will give you a more accurate frequency response. Truly accurate=
speakers are fabulously expensive, but that's what it takes to do professi=
onal level mastering, along with the tuned room to accommodate those speake=
rs. I use the Sony MDR-V6 (7506) for location recording, but even with 30-i=
sh years experience with those phones I still can't make heads nor tails of=
EQ under those phones. OTOH I've tracked, mixed, or mastered around 600 al=
bums on my speakers & those never need corrective EQ further down the line.
