I really enjoyed this interview. I especially appreciate the way that Gordo=
n talks about what it means to him to listen, to let go of the filtered, fo=
cused, selective attention we are taught and return to a more elemental, op=
en awareness of the whole tapestry of the natural acoustic world. I think B=
ernie describes this very well in his book also, the way in which open awar=
eness changes us, tells us who we really are.

For me, nature recording is not essentially about capturing sounds (fun as =
that is). It is an aid to listening more deeply and completely and openly.
