All common recorders covers a lot of territory!!!
I can only tell you of those I have purchased in the last few years, the
Tascam DR-680, the Marantz PMD661, and the Olympus LS-11 all have
industry standard (1 volt) line inputs. The Zoom H4n does not...
A cautionary note about the Zoom H4n, it is advertised as having line
inputs however after purchasing one, I discovered it did not, the so
called line input jacks feed the mic preamps and you are expected to
build voltage divider networks into your interface cable. This recorder
was returned for this false claim of line inputs as I had purchased it
to use with Sound Devices 302 field mixer/preamps via line level signal
interface and the Zoom H4n was replaced with the Marantz PMD661 which
has proven to be the ideal recorder for my needs.
This line input claim falsehood of the Zoom H4n would make me suspicious
of any other Zoom model unless I tested it myself...
