Actually, Martyn, the Crex scenario I mentioned was when I was using a pair= of AT4022s in a boundary array. I could have used some more 'reach', since I w= asn't as close to the sound source as I had hoped. The self noise of the 4022s is= comparable to the Sennheisers, and given their performanceI I wouldn't cons= ider them "cheap". As I mentioned below, the final determination must be made by the ear of th= e beholder. In most situations, there is a given class of gear that works wel= l, but in some instances there is a need for something else. That is probably = why so much bandwidth is chewed up on gear recommendations and testing in this= group. Best, Greg |
